Meditation

As more places are re-opening, I am wondering how it will affect the COVID-19 numbers. With this looming over our heads I feel it is more important than ever to practice ways to take care of ourselves. One of my favorite ways is meditation!

What is meditation? Wikipedia says “Meditation is a practice where an individual uses a technique – such as mindfulness, or focusing the mind on a particular object, thought, or activity – to train attention and awareness, and achieve a mentally clear and emotionally calm and stable state.”

One thing I love about meditation is there are so many ways to practice it and I have found a couple of ways that work well for me. An easy way to meditate is to create a short mantra for whatever you are trying to work through and say it as many times as you can. I also use a meditation app from Chopra Meditation Center, check it out for some simple guided meditations.

Another resource I use is Louise Hay who has an excellent book “You Can Heal Your Life” and in it she has a chart that connects parts of our body or health condition and an emotion. In this chart the 1st column is “Problems”, 2nd column is “Probable Cause”, and 3rd column is “New Thought Pattern”. With the Coronavirus affecting so many people’s lungs and the Immune and Lymphatic system I thought I would share her thoughts on these parts of our body.

Lung = Depression. Grief. Fear of taking in life. Not feeling worthy of living life fully.

I have the capacity to take in the fullness of life. I lovingly live life to the fullest.

Lymph Problems =

A warning that the mind needs to be recentred on the essentials of life. Love and joy.

I am now totally centred in the love and joy of being alive. I flow with life. Peace of mind is mine.

These are excellent mantras to say over and over to yourself anytime you start to feel overwhelmed or stressed! I hope you will explore meditation as I found it is something I can do anywhere at anytime!
